Looking for a simple, affordable senior citizen mobile plan in Singapore? We compare plans from 18 providers so you (or your parents) can find an easy plan with enough data, clear pricing and no nasty surprises. Before you choose, it helps to understand that there are two very different things often called senior plans.

1. The IMDA Mobile Access for Seniors scheme

This is a government-subsidised plan that costs about $5.09/month for the first 24 months, then reverts to roughly $10.18/month. It is not bookable on our site. To qualify you need a redemption letter and must join the Seniors Go Digital programme, learning at least one basic digital skill at an SG Digital Community Hub. If you have a redemption letter, this is usually the cheapest route.

2. Commercial senior plans (what we list here)

Telcos also offer regular senior plans, such as StarHub's 5G Senior Plan and Singtel's Savvy Silver, open to all Singapore citizens and PRs aged 60 and above with no subsidy or paperwork. These give simple billing, generous-enough data and easy sign-up. Compare them against everyday cheapest plans and flexible SIM-only plans too, as a low-cost no-frills plan is sometimes better value.

What seniors actually need

Most seniors don't need huge data or the latest phone. Focus on:
  • Scam protection: register with ScamShield and remember the anti-scam helpline 1799.
  • No 5G phone required: 5G plans work perfectly on an existing 4G phone, so don't feel pressured to upgrade.
  • eSIM vs physical SIM: a physical SIM is simpler if a shop helps you set it up; an eSIM activates instantly with no card to lose.
Prefer the freedom to switch any time? Look at no-contract plans and compare every option on the homepage.

Frequently asked questions

What is a senior citizen mobile plan?+
It is a mobile plan aimed at older users that keeps things simple and affordable. In Singapore the term covers two things: the government-subsidised IMDA Mobile Access for Seniors plan, and commercial senior plans from telcos that are open to all citizens and PRs aged 60 and above.
Am I eligible for the IMDA subsidised senior plan?+
The IMDA Mobile Access for Seniors plan (about $5.09/month for the first 24 months) requires a redemption letter and participation in the Seniors Go Digital programme, where you learn at least one basic digital skill at an SG Digital Community Hub. It is not bookable on our site. Commercial senior plans, which we do list, simply require you to be a citizen or PR aged 60 or above.
Do I need a 5G phone to use a senior plan?+
No. A 5G plan works perfectly well on an existing 4G phone, you just won't get 5G speeds until you upgrade. There's no need to buy a new 5G phone just to use one of these plans.
eSIM or physical SIM, which is better for seniors?+
Both work the same once set up. A physical SIM is often easier if a shop staff member installs it for you. An eSIM activates instantly by scanning a code and there's no tiny card to lose, but it needs an eSIM-compatible phone.
How can seniors stay protected against scams?+
Register the phone with ScamShield to filter scam calls and messages, and keep the national anti-scam helpline 1799 handy. If a call or SMS asks for banking details or OTPs, hang up and verify with the bank directly.
